Italian activities to do during this lockdown
Yes, we are all stuck at home. But there are still a lot of activities we can do, connected to our beloved Italy.
Since the weekend is approaching, we have selected a few for you:
You cannot go to the museum, right. But what if Museo Italo Americano is bringing an exhibition to your house? In Cerca di una Nuova Vita: Italy to California 1850 to Today is currently at the Museo from March 25th to October 17, 2020. The exhibition tells the story of the three “waves” of Italian immigration and of the great impact that Italian Americans have had in shaping the state of California. Museo Italo Americano made the catalog available for you on their website.
Who is not missing a good glass of Italian wine? Biondivino wants to help you with his Care Packages. They will pick up some Italian bottles of wine and deliver them directly to your home for a Cin Cin!
In search of some activities to do with kids? Call Tony and Alba. They can deliver pizza kits on your curbside with dough, sauce, cheese, 1 protein and 1 vegetarian ingredient, and you also have the choice for gluten free dough.
Looking to improve your cooking techniques? Don’t miss our Italian virtual cooking classes! The first one will be hosted on April 8th with the chef Rosetta Costantino, teaching how to make some of the most famous fresh pasta from Southern Italy from scratch. The class ticket is $30 dollars and can be purchased on Bay Area Italian Events website. Zoom application download is required to participate.
Tired of cooking everyday? There are still a lot of Italian restaurants that do deliveries in the Bay Area. Check this list made by CIBA including Vina Enoteca, Terun, La Porchetta Toscana, Gio Gelati, Sugo.cooking, La Pizzeria Campbell, Paesano Ristorante, Italian Brothers, Doppio Zero and many more.
After all this food, you need some exercise! That’s why the Italian personal trainer Sara Airoldi is organizing, supported by the Italiani Residenti in Silicon Valley Facebook group, some virtual training classes.
Talking, talking, talking! You can practice your Italian with Bay Area Italian Events founders every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Registrations are free and available on Bay Area Italian Events website. The requirements to join the classes are basic Italian conversation skills and the Zoom application downloaded on a laptop, tablet or smartphone, by clicking on the link provided during the registration process.
If you love reading, don’t forget that the Santa Clara County library has an extensive catalog of books online. You may search for some Italian novels or start planning your future trip to Italy with a Lonely Planet guide.
Last, but not least, movies! Netflix has some interesting titles, like the famous movie “Suburra” or the documentaries “My Way” on ex Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi’s life and “On my Skin” on Stefano Cucchi’s inmate story. But if you prefer classical movies, take a look at this Youtube catalog.
